This Friday, the theme is broken. I still wanted to photograph the boys this week for the 52 project, and mid week I stumbled over their garbage truck toy for probably the 1000 time and realized it would be the perfect subject this week. The garbage truck was a gift to Gabe on his first birthday and over the last 4 years it has been loved dearly. At 1 he used it to help him scoot along the floor. At 18 months it begin to be a step stool to get to things he shouldn’t. At 2, I barely caught him as he attempted to launch himself down our extremely steep driveway riding on top of it. At 3 it was used to make a dent in the wall at the end of the hallway as it was loaded with blocks and rocketed down the smooth hardwood floors. At 4 there were races with other vehicles down said drive way, sans rider. At 5, this beloved friend still gets played with weekly, sometimes daily.
New in the package, this truck has doors, a driver, a lift which dumps the garbage into the top of the truck and various other accessories and features. Today, its broken, none of those things are working features. Its so broken. But its so well loved and its near to my boy’s heart, so its near to mine.
Next head over to my friend Shannon Harrison of Jack and Ruby Studios | Temecula, CA
