Changes. There are so many changes happening for me and for my family this month. In ten days we will be headed out for a cross country drive from our very dear home here in Little Rock, Arkansas to our much anticipated new home in Portland, Oregon. I’m arming myself with games, cars, crayons, movies and of course my camera to document our adventure together. All you experienced road trip Mamas, I’d love to hear some fresh ideas to keep kids occupied in the car! We feel both sad and excited about our trip, which is such a powerful pair of emotions to experience together. Still, right where we are in the in between is just perfect, we are happy and blessed, not wishing to change a thing!
When it comes to photography, there are always changes. I never want to stay in the same place as a photographer. I’m so grateful for the all the ways that photography has changed me. I’m so grateful for the times that viewing the world from behind the camera has made me be more present in the moment, has made me more aware of the details of my life (and yours sometimes too!) and has helped me maybe just a tiny tiny bit slow down how quickly my little family and life are changing. Its helped me grow creatively, which is hard to see sometimes as I am very much my own worst critic. But, it is that very idea that ensures that I will never every feel as that there is an end to this journey. I know there will always be the photographer that I can be and that I am not yet out in the hazy future. I’m looking forward to being inspired by that idea and keeping that present in my heart and mind each time I pull my camera out of the bag.
The people and families and little ones I’ve gotten to meet and photograph here in Little Rock, Arkansas have been such a huge blessing to me. I feel so honored that I was able to document a little bit of your life for you! Thank you SO much for all that you have meant to me. Thank you thank you thank you! I will be in Arkansas to visit as often as I can and will offer mini sessions when I am able to in Little Rock, so please stay with me so we can catch up in person when I’m back in town! I’m sure I’ll announce those first on my Facebook page. I’d also love to give you recommendations for my favorite Little Rock photographers and am planning for a blog post featuring those talented photographers very soon, but if you need one sooner, just drop me an email and I’ll send you a list. I can’t wait to meet new friends and clients in Portland, Vancouver, Beaverton, Lake Oswego and all over Oregon! I’ve already begun scheduling sessions for this summer, so give me a call if you are ready to schedule yours!
ALSO! I’m thrilled to be opening this new blog and portfolio site and to finally be able to share it with you all! After some late nights and what seems like hundreds of emails back and forth with Breeze Floyd of Trust the Air Designs we finally finished the last little touches. She’s read so many questions and ideas from me through this process and I’m so happy that she’s been excited with me to get this new site up. Its so exciting to see all the details pulled together! Have a look around and let me know what you think!
Thank you if you’ve read all of this!
