Every week, I feel more grateful for this project. Its 52 on Friday, week nine. This week the theme is Family. They boys and I made a quick mid week trip up to visit my parents. I’ve been wanting to photograph them in their space for a while, its been quite a while since I have. Its one of the many projects I wanted to pursue this spring. Sam’s sitting in the same place I used to every now and then when I was small – getting dirty, cuddling with my mom and watching a new form begin to take shape in front of me. Little Sack of Sugar |Little Rock, Arkansas Newborn Photographer

Oh this little guy was such a little sack of sugar. Do you all know that song – the Elizabeth Mitchell version? Here’s a little sample. Push the play button and you can listen to it while you look at this cutie. We love Elizabeth Mitchell at our house and all of her beautiful, folksy, children’s songs. I always come home from newborn sessions singing that song …little sack of sugar, I could eat you up! And I catch my boys and try to kiss them and sing it to them and they try to get away from me and go do boy things. Things that involve cars and ramps and jumping off of stuff. But, secretly, I know they like it. I know some of you have heard me singing to your children, so I think you probably know why the boys want to get away from me when I’m singing. :) Oh my, how I adore photographing your sweet new little babies. Here are my favorites of this little sugar.

I know up there at the top of this post it says Little Rock, Arkansas Newborn Photographer, and I am! I’m here to photograph little ones and their families until around May 15th. And then, my family and I will be moving to Portland, OR. 52 on Friday 8/52 | Portland Child Photographer

Its friday and its week 7 of the 52 on Friday project. This week, the theme was fashion, and it was definitely tougher for me than what we’ve shot so far for these weeks. I’m always so inspired by fashion photography, and often pull bits and pieces from my favorite shoots into my session. But, I’m dedicated to working with the boys each Friday because I often photograph them and the images sleep on my hard drives. Using them for each theme is going to be a challenge, but I’m loving have a project with them each week. I’ve posted some more images from this session in the post below this one. This week may not necessarily fit fashion to a T, but it was a fun dreamy shoot with the boys, so I’m happy for the challenge to stretch creatively!

Coming Home|Little Rock, Arkansas Photographer

I just got back to Little Rock after spending the weekend in Dallas at the Bloom Workshop. It was an incredible weekend and I have images to share and some gushing to do soon. In summary, there was amazing creative energy floating all around us the whole weekend. The weather was beautiful, there was tons of laughing, nonstop talking and I came home feeling refreshed, inspired and thrilled that I have several sessions to bring that feeling with me to this week. As exhilarating as that is and as much as I wish the weekend could have moved in slow motion there is nothing like being pummeled by my three favorite men when we got home. Well, mostly pummeled by the little two, and kissed by the other. Its such a good feeling to be home. More about the Bloom Workshop soon!

52 on Friday 7/52 | Little Rock Children’s Photographer

Its Friday and I’m back with week 7 of the 52 on Friday project. And guess what? This post makes my 300th post on this blog! Wow! I was surprised when I saw that!

This week the theme is innocence. This tiny baby of mine just turned 5 and I love this age with him. He surprised me one morning this week by dressing himself, including picking out the clothes, this is a very rare occurrence here as both boys see no point in changing from pajamas to clothes each day. I’m so ready to be working outside in the sunshine again and since its been springlike all week, we headed out, crazy hair and all. His hair in the dancing with the guitar series makes me think of the Aldous Snow character from the movie Get Him to the Greek. Ha! Everytime I look and these I giggle about it. The little guitar was a Christmas gift and its been a huge hit in our house. They call it the rocking guitar, regardless of the very decidedly western motif.

He’s in this great place, and each day is an adventure for him. I asked him a few questions, they’ve had these types of projects at school before and I’ve tucked away the answers from 3 and 4. So innocent and sweet, and sometimes funny!

Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?

A: Ummm, a grown-up! And a garbage truck man.

Q: What is something that you are really good at? Side note, this answer was without any hesitation. I’m very curious to hear him do this, thus far this has been a secret talent of his.

A: Speaking chinese.

Q: What makes you happy?

A: Playing outside, going to school

Q: What goes on at kindergarten?

A: I’ll play on the playground, find new books and see what they say.
